Additional information
Iconographically interesting piece showing an archaic handle decoration of openworked pairs of superimposed anthropomorphic figures in a squatting, frog-like position. Notice the birds the figures seem to hold in their hands. Elbows and knees are joined by means of stud, probably indicating the spritual beings depicted. The third and topmost panel shows two birds flanking a table-like object. The panels are divided by a strip of notched spirals very akin to the border motif found on Chinese pocelain and described as silk worm.
