In 1981 this figure was thought of as akin in style to Wetar. This is however an ancestor figure from Atauro in an archaic style. Notice the struts between arms and torso, the diabolo-shaped headdress and the shortened and indented fingers and toes. The front of this sculpture is treated as a flat plane with a horizontal ridge indicating the belly.
