Additional information

No information came with this photo of an intriguing shield. We do not know the size and how the handle is ajusted or cut out of the wood. A stub appears at the top, probably the upper of the handle. It probably hails from the Digul area, more specific the Muyu river. The documented shield from this area, now in Museum Volkenkunde, Leiden is the only documented shield from this area. Here we see three ridges outlining two ovals, which has a certain similarity to the present shield which seem to outline a human figure with four vertical planes alternatedly painted white and red.
