Probably a lid of a container, abalan, or mortar pandudaan. Looking more closely, the carving becomes more intriguing: although the head of the animal is quite conventional and found for instance as lid of a naga morsarang, an animal head seems to issue from the singha’s mouth; the body is so heavy, massive, that it can’t stand erect from its tiny legs. The rider has clog-like large feet. Are we looking at the Naga Padoha, the primordial creature below the earth?
