Additional information

One of the three korwars Pleyte, former curator of Artis Museum, Amsterdam, sold to Webster. They all were acquired as hailing from an island destroyed by earthquakes, Wariab. In interesting not is that all three unlike their similar provenance, were carved in different styles.

The present item is by far the most interesting of the three and judged by the style was carved in or near Biak.
