Compared with each other, it turns out that most of the so called ‘block’ korwars share the same features and therefore could hail from a special area in the Cenderawasih Bay. The same holds true for the korwars from Doreh Bay and the Wandammen area. Whereas most of the korwar figures were acquired during a short period of time, ca 1870 – 1920, we could surmise workshops of ‘artists’ working over a period of not more than two generations.
