Additional information

Three rare anthropomorphic figures. Palm (1961: 70)) writes that these sculptures of medium size were used by shaman priests in their exorcising practices. The function of these statues could then be that the spirit who caused the sickness could be transmitted to the wooden statue after which it was thrown away. Some of these priests held several of these sculptures to this purpose in the attic.
